Buddha Purnima is a gazetted holiday traditionally celebrated in Mahayana Buddhism to commemorate the birth of the Prince Siddhartha Gautama, later the Gautama Buddha and founder of Buddhism. It is celebrated especially in sikkim, Ladakh, Arunachal Pradesh, Bodh Gaya, various parts of North Bengal such as Kalimpong, Darjeeling, and Kurseong, MaharashMaharashtra and other parts of India as per the Indian calendar. The usual dress is pure white.
